Project Overview
Submersed amongst the darting fish and graceful sharks of Ripley’s Aquarium in Toronto are SGi’s UltraBright 4.4 Watt IP68 RGBW LED Flex Lights. Thanks to a discreet size and flexible LED design the fixtures themselves are not visible. Instead they are conveniently hidden inside the fish tanks, adding their coloured illumination to the prismatic backdrop of corals and exotic fish. The combination of SGi’s UltraBright 4.4 Watt IP68 RGBW LED Flex Lights and exotic marine life provide a stunning visual experience that is not soon forgotten.
This fantastic pairing of LED light and animal life can be enjoyed in three locations inside Ripley’s Aquarium; The Rainbow Reef, Planet Jellies and the Dangerous Lagoon.

Design
LED Underwater Lighting
Ripley’s Aquarium needed a colourful lighting solution that could be submersed directly into the fish tanks and shark lagoons. The client required lights with customized lengths so they could fit into the unique shapes and sizes of the tanks. The lights needed to be bright enough to provide aesthetic to the large tanks and beautiful enough to match the creatures they were illuminating.

We recommended our UltraBright 4.4 Watt IP68 RGBW LED Flex Lights. The IP68 rating of these lights ensures its reliability as a rugged underwater feature while the RGBW abilities provide a balance of beautiful hues and a sophisticated 4000K white. As all SGi LED Flex Lights come with customized lengths, the client was able to discreetly install them into any area. Rainbow Reef
Mysterious patches of coloured light shine out from small coves in the coral displays of Rainbow Reef. This application required a discreet lighting solution that was small enough to be hidden in the display, but bright enough to provide indirect lighting from directly inside the aquariums.

Planet Jellies
Because SGi’s LED Flex lights are so flexible they can be hidden inside unique applications, like the round kreisel tanks that keep the jellyfish safe and healthy. These tanks are imbued with colourful LED lighting. As a result, the beautiful transparency of the jellyfish is accented in rich LED rainbows.

This thrilling entrance display marks the beginning of an incredible aquarium experience. This display took advantage of the flexibility of SGi’s LED Flex lights by having the lights directly installed onto the display’s surface. The lights curve and bend with the wave elements to create a continuous and exciting display.

Dangerous Lagoon Tanks
Similar to the Rainbow Reef, SGi’s RGBW LED Flex lights emit soft colours which peep out from discreet coves amongst the reef. Except this time, rather than illuminating exotic fish, these lights are highlighting sharks. The grace and power of these fantastic creatures is enhanced by the dynamic LED underwater colour display.
