Project Overview
While waiting to board Canada’s Hornblower Niagara Cruises, guests are treated to a stunning show of colourful LED lights by SGi Lighting. This exciting boat ride allows viewers to discover Niagara Falls from a closer proximity and SGi’s colourful IP68 RGBW UltraBright 4.4 Watt LED Flex Lights provide entertaining LED lighting for the upper and lower boarding platforms. Because of a rugged IP68 rating, these high-end lighting solutions are reliable and trustworthy in this wet exterior location.
SGi worked closely with the project’s contractors on a detailed lighting plan that would meet the clients needs. Because LED Flex Lights come in customizable lengths it was easy for them to fit into the unique sizing requirements of the application. These beautiful and functional lights shine down from the pergola ceiling and along the coping of nearby walls for a unified grazing effect. The resulting outcome has the boarding platforms positively dripping in rich and beautiful LED colours.

Design Considerations & Client Preferences
Exterior lighting
Our client needed low maintenance lights for the boarding platforms of Canada’s Hornblower Niagara Cruises. They needed something that could provide functional lighting but could also be entertaining for the guests who were waiting to board the exciting boat ride. These lights are situated very close to the falls and, as a result, are constantly exposed to the fall’s spray. With the constant exposure to mist and moisture the lights needed to be rugged enough to withstand the wet environment along with the extreme weather that happens in the winter months.
A primary requirement of the lighting was that it needed to be a customizable solution, as an off-the-counter product would not fit into the unique sizing requirements of the custom pergola.
SGi Recommendations
We recommended our IP68 RGBW UltraBright 4.4 Watt LED Flex lights. These lights were the beautiful and rugged solution our client was looking for. They provide reliable LED lighting for a harsh exterior area.
